Personal hello to Iversons from Uganda

Dear STORM Team,

I realize all of you should have received an update from Elizabeth in the last several days. I wanted to also send you a personal “hello” from us, saying we “miss” you (this is an understatement). We knew sharing several weeks with you would be meaningful and rewarding however, we weren’t prepared for how much each of you would capture our hearts and minister such encouragement and strength to our family!

The unity of the team was amazing to watch. You moved with focus, zeal and caring love for the people of Uganda. Each one of you provided a special contributing gift. I can’t imagine what the team would have been like with even one of you missing. Bob and Sharon are to be commended for such fantastic training preparation and leadership throughout the trip. I don’t think CBC fully realizes the grace and gifting required to prepare and move a large group in one direction. (And no I’m not talking about just getting on the vans!)

God is so proud of you and your service to this country. You have had a great impact on the church; they are still talking about you. There is great momentum in the church and we are building on it. This last Sunday, everyone in the church was so excited about getting involved in community evangelism, and you can’t believe the attendance! I was at the church midweek and a college aged girl walked in off the street and asked someone to lead her to Christ. How can you not get excited about fish jumping in the boat!

You have been sharing photos with us and they are so hard to look at. Some make me laugh and others bring tears. What wonderful memories you have provided our family with.

We’ve rejoiced with the messages of your sharing the vision and hearing how others at CBC are getting involved with the vision for Uganda. You are the voice for the work in Uganda and are doing a fantastic job!

I am also excited to report that the owner that sold RUN ministries the lake property, met with us two days ago and had agreed to sell the ministry two or more acres of land adjoining the current property. We wanted to try to move all of the community ministries off of the compound and make them more public while protecting the children that will be coming to Hope Village. Obviously, we had to wait until after dedication to explore this with the landowner. We will move the church, grade school and Hope Clinic along with a public park and playground for all families to use in the community. Please pray for the details and a favorable price. We have ordered the surveying of the land and then will finalize the details with him.

Thank you again for your friendship and love!
We love you all so much and thank God for each of your unique gifting.

Words from God to the Team

You are no in Uganda by mistake. I have shaped and formed you precisely and this experience, this opportunity was one that required your servanthood. Don't worry about your concerns, I am taking care of them as we speak. Don't forget who I am in your life - I'm the great I am, I am the force behind all forces. I am bigger than your problems. Give me your burdens, because they are chump change to me. Imagine now the bigger picture I see, the future of your life laid out straight in front of me from beginning to end when we shall see each other face to face.

I love you and I'm crazy about you. You are my precious children. I shelter you while you sleep, I call your name when you awake. Sometimes you don't hear me, but now we're in open conversation!

I'm like the rooster crowing in the morning. Arise and come spend the day with me. Allow me to show you more miracles and more of my majesty.

Your circumstances are being transformed as we speak. Trust in me o you of little faith, come find your shelter in my wings of supreme protection and comfort.

I'm using your team to motivate and encourage the body of Uganda which is in revival stages. I'm moving like the source of the Nile, like a flood, I'm moving strong with a spiritual force that is shaking the foundations of falseness in this land. The season is ready for harvest and I'm using you and your team as an instrumental strategy as part of my plans. Find strength and encouragement in my words of life and of spirit to you.

I love you and I have plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Remember what I am fully capable of and trust in my power above anything.

Love your father in Heaven, love Jesus

letter from Robert Kyukyu (RUN Bible Church)

Hi Daniel

Praise the Lord and I believe that this email finds you in good health, Amen.

First of all I want to let you know I travelled well to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand and that am now back in Uganda.

It was a nice trip and was able to catch up with Angie in Singapore and she took me to her church for the Saturday service.

I was then able to attend the Sunday service at the Rock-Pastor Joseph Prince church.

It was all a good experience.

It was also very nice that we spent some time together talking at Dubai and enjoying the massage chair!!!

Thank you for being a blessing to us all at the RUN Bible church and making the sacrifice to come over to be part of the entire celebration.

You guys were awesome and I am starting to think we should do something for CBC as well

Ok Will write more soon

Kind regards and blessings

Robert Kyukyu

Iverson Update from Uganda

Hello My Dear Family, Friends, Colleagues, Pastors and STORM team members,

It‘s August 15th and we’ve been in Uganda 2 1/2 months now.

July was a world-wind of a month with many celebrations, conferences, festivals and visitors. First, we were blessed with over 35 missionary guests that came from Oregon and Washington. The first team was from our home church with our Mission’s Pastors Bob and Sharon Wagar, along with 22 other STORM members (short term out reach missionaries). One day later, the second team joined us (11 members) from Life Center Church from Centralia, which was lead by R.U.N.’s founding parents, Pastors Lew and Marion Peterson.

Our church (RUN Bible Church, Uganda) had many conferences and first-time functions that benefited the local community this month. We started with a three-day presbytery July 12-14th which ministered to the local church body. Both Royce and myself were ministered to unexpectedly. As many of you know, we went thru CBC’s presbytery earlier this year before leaving for Africa, and it was amazing to hear confirming words from other prophets from around the world. It goes to show us that our God is not limited by space, time, geographies and seas. Several segments in our African presbytery were word-for-word of our Portland presbytery! Praise God!

July 18-20th was our first time Women’s Conference here in Kampala. The theme was being “Women of Influence”, both in the home and work place. Over 300 women throughout the city attended and it was a true success. The women on the STORM team were the speakers and I was privileged to open the second day of the conference. It is a rare thing to have something “free” in this country so many women were blessed by the conference and lunches being at “no charge”. They kept waiting for a catch. Since the conference, our Women’s Pastor here, Deborah Kaweesa has been asked many times from the locals when will we have our next conference. Pastor Sharon, when will you be returning?

July 22nd was the church building dedication. As many of you know, our church completed our new building in December of last year. RUN went from a tent church downtown Kampala to a new 1,600 seat sanctuary. This beautiful facility could not have been completed without the help and financial assistance from many people from around the world. I’m so proud of our home church in Portland for all the contributions and sacrifices they made to be a part of it; thank you Pastors Frank and Sharon Damazio. The first six weeks of our arrival here was to put the finishing touches on the building with paint (interior and exterior), stage lighting, décor, carpeting, paving the parking lot, completion of the washroom facilities, windows and partitioning the office spaces. We worked until the 11th hour to get everything completed. Of course, with many hands and diligent workers, the house “shined” (see attached photos). Now, our focus is to “fill the house”.

July 23-27th was Ministers Fellowship East Africa (MFEA). For five days over 200 pastors from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Congo were ministered to. Pastors Petersons and Wagars ministered to the eager and committed conference attendees. Many came exhausted and discouraged, however left refreshed and rejuvenated. The teachings were rich and the worship out of this world. I look forward to next year’s conference and visiting pastors from home (who will it be?...Pastor Frank...Pastor Iverson:).

July 28th was RUN’s Children festival. The STORM team came prepared to put on our first-time children’s festival. They did an awesome job with carnival style games, booths, skits, music and ministry. It was a HUGE success as over 600 children from the community came to participate. The following day, our Sunday School class had increased by 150 children, yea! Thank you so much STORM team for such an awesome job. Your preparation and diligence made a tremendous difference in this community.

July 29th was the departure of some of CBC’s STORM team. The remainder left for home on the 31st. Thank you STORM team for coming. You were a true blessing to the church and our family. Mark Nashif; you’re officially adopted as my oldest son. Dominic was truly blessed by having an older brother around to connect with. Your patience and playfulness with him makes my heart sing to this day. Becky DelVal; thank you for being a big sister to Sophia. She has such wonderful memories with you and all the girls from the team. It was the first time I felt so secure when she wasn’t with me and she loved taking you shopping in the markets (she still talks about it). Thanks again for being her friend and giving me a bit of a break. Pastor Sharon and Bob; it was such a blessing to have you here with us. You were such a comfort at a critical time for us (the six week marker that many missionaries speak about). We enjoyed the comfort of your fellowship and the covering of your ministry. Thank you again Pastor Frank and our CBC Family for sending the STORM team to us.

July 31-August 2nd we took three days off and went with the Life Center Missions team on a safari. Pastors Petersons arranged this event for their team to Murchison Falls and graciously invited us. The down time was desperately needed and the safari was dynamic. The wildlife was active due to the weather being cool and the foliage was very green. For the first time we experienced a herd of giraffes which was over 35 members. We saw elephants, crocks, hippos, baboons, monkeys, cape buffalos, wart hogs, hart beasts, Ugandan Kobs, fish eagles and birds from out of this world. I wish I could attach my photos from the event; however it would bog down and jeopardize the sending process. I will send you photos as individual attachments later. We also got to float the Nile River and experience the power of Murchison Falls. The sound of the river was like a roar of an African Lion and the water pressure was that of elephant (thank God I’m not speaking from experience). Thank you again Marion for including us on your safari.

August 9th Life Center Missions team left. After three weeks of elbow grease and love, this team left “Hope Village” with desperately needed new roofs and a face lift. Thank you for all your incredible work and vision you brought. Mike Howard; your design and building skills were amazing. The staff housing will never be the same and the team here is eternally grateful. We’ll never forget the celebration and dancing everyone made upon the arrival of the roofing materials. Rainy nights bring a different meaning now that their beds aren’t getting wet and their sleeps aren’t disrupted. The fresh paint has lifted their spirits and they’re “feeling the love” again. Shelby Howard; you were an incredible on-site leader. Your ability to motivate your team to do such “dirty work” was truly a mission. It’s no wonder your business at home is such a success. Thank you for your leadership and encouragement as you lead your team to a job well done. Therese, Judy and Elveda...what can we say? The work wouldn’t have been completed without you! You three were the definition of servant hood... thank you again. And Lew and Marion; thank you again for your pioneering spirits and ministry. We would have no projects without your obedience of birthing this ministry! Thank you for your continued commitment to see it grow, prosper and succeed. Royce and I enjoyed your encouragement, love, and parenting spirit towards us. We look forward to the many future teams you’ll bring and your continued involvement with MFEA.

As you can see, I started this email by saying it was a world-wind of a month...I trust you’d agree. I apologize for the length of time it took to communicate this and the length of this email. I look forward to hearing from many of you, as I know many events in your life are happening. I truly appreciate the shortest emails just letting me know you heard from me. I remember the corporate days of full hours and compact lives...don’t feel pressured to email me back however I would love to get one line when you can drop it to me.

Thank you to my dear cousin Tracey who faithfully emails me with updates. My dear sisters, Adriana and Sandra for my family updates and photos. Kimmie and Bren...tell me about your moves to California. I can’t wait to hear from you Alida about the wedding and your vacation in Mexico. Heather and Cousin Jennie...please tell me about New York. My dear friend Carolina...I miss you something fierce! Nicole...I’m waiting to hear about Italy. Aimee...how’s the job hunt going? Jessie...how’s the church growth in New Zealand? Ruthie and Martie...how’s the school preparations coming? “D”...thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement about missions and home schooling; our books aren’t here yet...should I be panicking yet? Auntie Wendy and Uncle George...you wouldn’t believe how often I think of you; quilting and dentistry are in my blood! The Mason’s...thanks for sharing Faith with me for a month; I truly enjoyed strengthening our friendship and our times together. Faith I can’t wait to see you again soon in Africa :) and Christy you’re next in December (we’ve arranged a safari for both you and Sarah Nashif). Aunt Edie...thanks for my birthday card from America and remembering me with your busy schedule. Taylor and Shannon...thanks for staying connected when we’re so far apart, I love hearing about your lives and Jetty that you’re riding horses again. Thanks to my state-side doctor Sue Anderson for your medical advice and assistance here...I’m feeling great and the transition has gone great. I hope to see you here one day soon :) Prayer Grams...thanks for your prayers; we’re feeling them from here. To my corporate women friends...I’m thinking of you often Lori B. (your birthday is coming next month), Denise N. is your schedule slowing down? To my dental colleagues...hope to see you soon in the dental clinic here in HOPE Village.

I’m going to be here another two hours if I don’t stop. I miss you guys and look forward to hearing from you. Just know, I’m having the time of my life here in Africa and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Let me know when y’all are coming to visit!

Photos from the Source of the Nile

Source of the Nile Photos (Team Member: Daniel Rogers)

The photos are still being edited if you can imagine; but there are a number of them on line at the above link with reference to our little adventure to the Source of the Nile, where we prayed powerfully for Uganda's spiritual tide and the rest of Africa. We believe that God is lifting Uganda for revival and that just as the source of the Nile begins in Uganda, that God is moving His Spirit upon the land and softening the hearts of the people there to believe. Please join us in this prayer as you glance through some of the breath-taking photos that describe this picturesque location.
